Tasting notes
Montepulciano d’Abruzzo “Family Selection” represents the wine as it likes to drink it in the De Cerchio family, with a non-invasive aging in wood that gives soft tannins and a round taste, easy to enjoy despite its complexity.
This wine is born made with rigorously selected grapes to keep low yield per-hectare. The grapes are picked by hand in the first ten days of October. Once in the cellars, the long maceration in steel tanks at controlled temperature guarantees to extract all the colour from the skins.
The wines then mature for nine months in in French and Slavonian oak tonneaux (20% in first-passage oaks and 80% in second-passage) and finally for four months in the bottle.
Characteristic of this wine is its deep black colour, with ruby glints. The nose is intense, with wild berries aromas and notes of tobacco, coffee and cocoa powder in the final. In the mouth the wine is complex, supple and round. Aftertastes of chocolate can be perceived in the final, with hints of black pepper. It goes perfectly with structured first courses and thanks to its versatility, to any type of meat, from white to red.
