Peri Peri
Sciacca, Sicily
Tenuta certificata da

Throughout his life Grandpa Laurentino retained the memory of the very hard days of imprisonment during
World War II, spent with his Sicilian fellow soldiers. It was not until almost thirty years later, in 1971, that he fell
in love with a small piece of land overlooking the sea, near Sciacca, in the province of Agrigento. The same sea that swayed in the memories of his companions’ stories and faces to the south. Here, the junction point of the Mediterranean, where even the wild Sicilian countryside is touched by the waves
of the sea on windy days, in ancient times were meeting the explorers and travelers, known as “Peri Peri”, literally “wanderers”. This is how the Peri Peri estate got its name, in tribute to the bravery of explorers and travelers of ancient times
and to the sea of the south. That sea that has destroyed and created life for many centuries.

Terroir
The Peri Peri estate is located in Sciacca, in the province of Agrigento, a few kilometers from the sea. The estate grows Nerello Mascalese, Frappato, Perricone, Inzolia and Zibibbo varieties. The vineyards enjoy the sea breeze all year round and the reddish alluvial red soils are very varied in composition, creating the ideal conditions for wines which perfectly represent an adventurous organoleptic journey to discover Sicily.
WINEMAKING
WITH STYLE

ORGANIC WINEGROWING
Growing environmental awareness persuaded the family to adopt organic winegrowing practices throughout its estates. Respect for natural cycles, non-invasive growing techniques and work in the rows that is attentive to showcasing the native and authenticity traits of each district have been at the forefront of the De Cerchio family philosophy over the years.
SPONTANEOUS FERMENTATION
The De Cerchio family has always embraced the philosophy of spontaneous fermentation. This winemaking method is the proof that work begins among the vines, where targeted cultivation techniques go a long way to ensuring generous amounts of ambient yeasts reach the cellar, where they engage in a natural transformation process. Consequently, a natural selection of several strains endow wines with an authentic, rich aromatic legacy. The family is committed to this production approach and each bottle of its wine offers only the bounty of Mother Nature. Hence the wines are complex, the purest expression of their place of origin, able to inspire the most distinctive sensations.
